Our Process
Each roll is carefully inspected at our plant or the customer's site. A full assessment is issued prior to quote. Customers are always welcome to inspect work while in progress or before it is shipped. Certified records of post-work measurements and full inspection reports issued on request.
Waldrich-Siegen grinders are positioned on their own vibration-absorbing foundations. Grinder capacities reach diameters of 144", lengths of 600", and weights of 200,000 lbs. Lathes Lathe capacities reach a diameter of 62" with an over carriage up to 72" over ways. Lengths reach 668", and weights reach 200,000 lbs. All lathes have full machining capabilities.
Surface finishes as fine as 1/4 to 1/2 micro inch Ra are routinely achieved.
Precise balancing machines simulate in-plant rotation prior to shipping. Here a 550" marine drive shaft is dynamically balanced.
Swim rolls are leak-tested under simulated mill conditions prior to shipping. Also, many of our customers have so much confidence in our abilities that they entrust PRG to repair and rebuild their variable crown rolls. Precision Roll Grinders successfully rebuilds, upgrades and modifies rolls manufactured by Kusters, Valmet, Metso, Beloit CC Series, Voith-Profil and Nipco, Hunt and Moscrop, and Farrel.
Several methods are available to bring journals back to spec. Here brush-plating applies hard alloy to repair a worn journal surface.
Suction roll rebuilds (shown here), drums, take-up reels, turbine shafts, rotors, dryers, drive shafts, felt rolls, composite covered rolls and other specialty rolls are all refurbished at PRG. |
