Nonwovens

Hot grinding services

PRG's proprietary hot grinding technology is unique ? the only one available in the North American market. We continuously modernize our grinders including state-of-the-art technology which significantly improves grinding processes. Hot grinding is often the solution to production challenges caused by excess distortion as a result of high-temperature operations. Rolls are carefully examined and then heated to operating temperature — up to 600 degrees Fahrenheit. Then they are ground to PRG accuracy. The result: a roll that will start up and operate as required, increasing quality production.

PRG total roll care services for nonwovens

Since 1970, PRG has been North America's premier independent supplier of industrial roll grinding and repair services. PRG is experienced in providing roll service solutions to many nonwoven industry processes. Whether your business is manufacturing or converting, PRG can provide you with a comprehensive range of products and services which meet or exceed your specifications.

Here's how PRG works to increase your productivity and profitability

  • No one else even comes close. Your rolls are serviced right the first time. No surprises.
  • We deliver on time, every time, any time.
  • Experience. With a history of servicing thousands of rolls, we are familiar with solutions to otherwise exceptional problems.

  • Extended service life. PRG has developed proprietary grinding procedures, which allow us to provide more uniform and higher precision tolerances, increasing roll service life . . . thus increasing your productivity and profitability.

PRG roll grinding

Superior product performance can often be achieved through precision roll grinding. PRG is able to grind to tolerances plus & minus 20 millionths of an inch total indicated run-out, and achieve surface finishes less than 0.5 micro inch Ra.

A more precise grind means a more precise nip: uniform pressures, uniform caliper, uniform wear profiles, no "break-in" requirements, improved sheet consistency and longer time between grinds — all of which, obviously, means higher profits for our customers.

PRAXAIRTM coatings

PRG is an authorized distributor for Praxair carbide and ceramic coatings. Replacing chrome plating or resurfacing worn chilled cast iron with tungsten carbide, chrome carbide or ceramic can increase run times dramatically and improve uniformity as well as release. And with several offerings per application, coatings are tailored to your operations and budget requirements.

WALZEN IRLE New Chilled Iron Rolls and Shells

PRG is also the authorized dealer for Walzen Irle, one of the industry's most respected roll manufacturers. Walzen Irle has been providing chilled iron rolls and shells for more than 180 years and is able to provide a wide range of individual roll concepts — apart from the industry standard — to meet any need you may have. Much like PRG, Walzen Irle relies on the experience of its qualified technicians and maintains strict quality standards, guaranteeing that all production steps are tested — a commitment to quality which has consequently led to Walzen Irle's worldwide reputation for roll manufacturing.

"Reduce Stress!"

"Reduced stress! In today's business this is a major plus. We have a high level of confidence in Precision's capabilities, since they have all of the roll specifications. You can call, explain one time what needs to be done and relax."

"We have seen paybacks. . ."

"Guaranteed quality workmanship. This 'culture' increases confidence between two parties, which has allowed us to research additional details with standard practices. We have seen paybacks through lower vibration levels, longer roll life, and reduced horsepower requirements."

Testimonials are excerpted from unsolicited letters of satisfaction from customers of PRG. In the interest of confidentiality, names of customers and companies have been withheld.
